Study Abroad in Paris

Hello everyone! This blog post is going to be all about the week long study abroad trip that I took with my fellow classmates and Mark Weber from the art department. This is exciting because I wanted to share what my experience was like, what I saw, and what will be coming out of the trip. From now to May, the students that went on this art trip have a over a month to create an exhibition piece for our First Friday Scranton show in May 2017. The exhibition will feature artworks from what each student studied and chose to concentrate on while in Paris. Something else that is happening during First Friday in May for Marywood art students is the Zeta Omicron Art Honor Society’s Empty Bowl Project!

For this week long trip I went to many museums and locations such as; The Louvre, Centre Georges Pompidou, Musée d’Orsay, Musée de l’Orangerie, Musée national du Moyen Âge, Château de Chantilly, Notre Dame, and Sainte-Chapelle. During the week I got to see some artworks and locations that I studied in Art History 1 and 2. It was an amazing and breathtaking experience to actually see and fully understand the artworks that we only saw through a computer screen and book. Nothing can compare to seeing them in person. Below will be images from some locations that I visited that were studied in Art History and of artworks that I personally enjoy.

Notre Dame

Saint Chapelle

The Louvre

Musée d’Orsay
