Texture is the surface quality of  an object or two dimensional piece of artwork. It is another element of design and can take a piece of artwork to another level. Texture can be something that you can actually reach out and feel or it can be implied. A texture can be rough or smooth and things like wood grain, bark, denim, fur, and sand are all considered a type of texture. Again, these can be on a piece of artwork or can be recreated to look like that material.
