White

It’s that time of month again where I share my experience about Scranton’s First Friday event. This month’s (December) First Friday event was a special one to me because one of my pieces was put on display in a gallery. I am a part of the CMYKlub here at Marywood University, which is a graphic design club. Every year the club picks a theme for the winter show and everyone in the club creates something that relates to that theme. This year the pieces were displayed in The Workshop, which is a letterpress studio in downtown Scranton.

The theme this year was “White.” At first I really wasn’t sure what I wanted to do but the more I thought about it, the more I came up with ideas that I thought could work. I chose the idea of doing a close up study of a starfish. I researched starfish and what they look like. I used Adobe Illustrator to draw a vector representation of what I thought to be a close up of a starfish. The reason I chose the starfish was because it reminds me of home. Below are pictures from the show!
