Dungeons and Dragons Animation

I have been working on the animation from a past post, which was a sketch that laid down all the movement. I decided to fix a few things about how one of the pieces of hair was moving (the one in the front, to her right), because it wasn’t exactly looping correctly. It was jumping around at certain points, and since the rest of the hair was looping well enough, I figured I should fix it for the sake of my sanity.

I then decided to color it. Even though I tried to shade the hair relatively simply, it still took me the longest, and it was grueling to say the least. I tried to use color theory to make colors close to grey appear brighter by juxtaposition with complimentary colors.

I have a couple things I would like to change about it now that I see it with the distance of time. Her sideburns(?) are constantly shifting, because I never solidified them after the initial sketch. That would be an easy fix, I think. I also forgot to color her eyes, which isn’t a huge problem but I would like to return to it at some point. Lastly, and this one stings the most, I believe her head is just a bit too large for her body. It is reminiscent of a bobblehead.

As for where I think I succeeded: I am pleased with the hair movement, which took me very long to figure out. I also like the colors, and I had fun playing with reflected light. I would like to do more animated illustrations in the future, Because I find them very satisfying to complete.
